Going back to my childhood l have always had an affinity with natural phenomena which stems from being brought up on a farm. The themes in my black and white photographs have become a starting point for the development of further work. They centre on a magnified image of an organic piece of wood, rock or lichen covered surface. To my mind these images accentuate the patterns in natural forms/objects, and draws an analogy with the unconscious elements of humankind much like the romantic poets vision of natural forces.
